No work at the dental clinic for the weekend, so I signed up to visit a local orphanage called Espace. This was my second visit to this orphanage and it was great to see the kids again. A group from Mercy Ships goes every Saturday morning to Espace to play with the kids, share a Bible lesson, and usually do some type of craft project. With all the rain and flooding here, the main outside compound area was completely covered in water so we did "quieter " games inside like Jenga and connect four, but eventually ended up playing football/soccer as well. The craft project was also fun: each of the kids writing their names on a piece of paper, tracing the letters with glue, then pouring glitter on the whole thing. As you can imagine, the entire craft project was rather messy to begin with, then one of the kids decided it would be fun to wipe her glitter covered hands on the faces, backs and necks of people helping out. So there was glitter everywhere and the kids loved it :) Visiting the orphanage is always a challenge to me personally as I see the kids enjoying life and the little things that make them happy even though their current circumstances are definitely not ideal...and I realize that I have absolutely nothing to complain about.
