So on January 4th, after 5 long days of traveling, my brother Jay and I were very happy to finally arrive at the Africa Mercy docked in Pointe Noire, Congo. I don't have time to post a lot right now, but just wanted to get the news out that we ARE actually here and share a few of the photos I've managed to take so far...with the promise of more info and better pictures to come :)

Saturday - First day on the SHIP...food, shower, and bed :)
Sunday - Attended "Ward Church" on the hospital deck with current patients,
then took a long walk through the port to a local beach at sunset...hot and muggy :) |

Monday- First day working at the DENTAL CLINIC... about a 45 drive from the ship
My dental hygiene room - a little toasty in the afternoon even with the fan running
but otherwise well equipped for removing LOTS of calculus
Official work gear for the dental team...still smiling and sweaty after my first day :D
Tuesday - common African scenes along the way to work. Always interesting!

Hopefully this gives you some kind of idea about my first few days in the Congo... check back soon for more!
So glad you made it safely. Do you get to use a cavitron? Enjoy the pictures . Will pray for you as you impart God's love to all at the clinic.
